This 3-day journey from Marrakech (or Fes, on request) takes you across the Atlas Mountains into southeastern Morocco, visiting iconic sites before reaching the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga. Enjoy cultural stops, dramatic scenery, a sunset camel ride into the desert and a night under the stars in a desert camp. Transport, accommodation (including one night in the desert camp), and selected meals are included per package option

This classic 3-day Merzouga tour combines Morocco’s best southern scenery — the dramatic Atlas passes, ancient ksars, river gorges and the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. Led by experienced local drivers/guides, the tour balances driving time with cultural visits and outdoor activity. The desert night is the highlight: sleep in a comfortable Berber tent, enjoy traditional food and music around the fire, then rise early for a dune-top sunrise. This itinerary suits couples, small groups and families who want an authentic Sahara experience with reliable logistics

Explore the dramatic High Atlas mountain pass (Tizi n’Tichka).
Visit the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou ksar (old fortified village).
Walk through Todgha Gorges and Dades Valley’s scenic roads.
Overnight in a traditional Berber desert camp in Erg Chebbi with sunset & sunrise over the dunes.
Camel trek, sandboarding options and local Berber hospitality (tea/snacks).

Includes/Excludes

Round-trip transport in an air-conditioned vehicle from Marrakech (or agreed meeting point).
2 nights accommodation (1 night in hotel/riad/guesthouse + 1 night in desert camp — standard or luxury tent options).
Meals as stated in itinerary (usually 2× breakfasts, 2× dinners; check package).
Camel trek for sunset (and sunrise options) to/from the desert camp.
Camp entertainment, tea and light snacks at the camp.

Lunches on the road (unless specifically included in your chosen package).
Entry fees to certain monuments (unless specified).
Personal expenses, gratuities, travel insurance, and any services not listed as included.
Optional activities (4x4 dune transfer, private tent upgrade, professional photography) unless requested and paid separately.

Itinerary

Day 1 — Marrakech → Aït Ben Haddou → Dades Valley

Early pickup from your Marrakech hotel / riad.

Drive through the Tizi n’Tichka pass (High Atlas) with photo stops.

Visit Aït Ben Haddou (guided walk around the ksar). Optional tea & photos.

Continue to Ouarzazate, short stop at the film studios / Taourirt Kasbah (optional).

Drive the scenic road of kasbahs to Dades Valley. Overnight in a guesthouse or hotel in the Dades area. (Dinner included.)

Day 2 — Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)

After breakfast, depart for Todra Gorges — short hike and photo stop.

Continue via Erfoud (date palm region) towards Merzouga; optional visit to a fossil workshop or local market.

Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon; prepare light luggage for the desert night.

Late afternoon camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes — watch the sunset from the top of the dunes. Overnight in a Berber camp (private or shared tent). Dinner and campfire entertainment included.

Day 3 — Merzouga → Back to Marrakech

Wake early for a spectacular sunrise over the dunes; optional short camel ride or sandboarding.

Return by camel to Merzouga village (or 4x4 transfer if requested). Breakfast at the hotel/guesthouse.

Drive back to Marrakech via the same scenic route (or take an alternative route if arranged), with stops for lunch and photos. Arrive Marrakech in the evening and drop-off at your accommodation.

Note: Route can be reversed for departures from Fes or customized with private transfers / extra nights.
