Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech.

The Ourika Valley is a stunning green oasis in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, about 1-1.5 hours from Marrakech depending on traffic. The valley is known for its lush orchards, river landscapes, traditional Berber villages, and most famously, the Setti Fatma waterfalls. This day trip gives you a mix of cultural immersion, nature, hiking, relaxation, and beautiful scenery.
Typically the excursion lasts 7-9 hours (departure in the morning, return mid to late afternoon). Ideal if you want to escape the heat of Marrakech, see mountain scenery, and enjoy fresh air, riversides, simpler life.


You kick off early, leaving Marrakech behind and entering the greener landscapes of the Haouz plain. As you climb toward the foothills, you’ll begin to see Berber villages dotting the hills, orchards, and the high peaks looming above.

Once in the Ourika Valley, you’ll be introduced to local culture—perhaps visiting an argan oil cooperative, herbal gardens, or small markets. The key natural highlight is Setti Fatma: depending on how adventurous you're feeling (and how much time), you can hike to one or more of its waterfalls. The path to the first waterfall is relatively well-trodden; higher ones are steeper, more rugged and quieter.
Lunch by the river brings its own charm: scenic views, fresh mountain air, simple but tasty Moroccan dishes. After lunch, there’s opportunity to relax, or take more walks. Then you head back to Marrakech in the afternoon, reflecting on a day of nature, culture, water, and calm.
